Bartolomé Ros

About the artist

1906 — 1974

Born in the Spanish coastal city of Cartagena in 1906, Bartolomé Ros used his lens to capture everyday life both in southern Spain and in Morocco. With the Spanish army stationed in northern Morocco, photographs of the military interacting with General Franco, taken by Ros, appeared in Spanish propaganda publications in the mid-1920s. Later, his pictures would appear in National Geographic, and by the '60s he had founded Ros Fotocolor in Madrid. Since Ros' death in 1974, his work has been exhibited across Spain and in the United Kingdom.
