Eugeni Forcano

About the artist

1926 — 2018

Eugeni Forcano, born in 1926 in Catalonia, was a Spanish photojournalist whose career began at the weekly magazine Destino. Forcano's work, both journalistic and commercial, earned him success throughout the sixties, and he extensively photographed candid scenes in Barcelona at a moment of rapid social change. In 1962, along with ten of his Spanish contemporaries, including Xavier Miserachs and Gabriel Cualladó, Forcano was invited to show his work in the collective exhibit Eleven photographers in Paris by the French tourist board.

Commercially, Forcano worked for brands including Pulligan, Freixenet and DuPont, eventually becoming one of the most successful Spanish photographers of the twentieth century. He died in 2018.
